Home Buying in Baltimore

• HOUSING COUNSELING 

We are a HUD-approved housing counseling agency providing housing counseling for people wishing to purchase a home in Baltimore City. Before you buy, learn about the steps of the home-buying process, the importance of credit, saving money and creating a budget, how to qualify for a mortgage, choosing a home, and what to expect during the closing process.

• IMPORTANT NOTICE

• In order to qualify for down payment and closing cost assistance programs, you must complete BOTH a homebuyer workshop (taken online or via video) and one-on-one counseling. 

• HOMEBUYER WORKSHOP OPTIONS
If you need to take a homebuyer education workshop, you have two choices: ZOOM workshop held once monthly in an interactive format with live presenters, or our eHomeAmerica online workshop self-paced modules available 24/7 for a $25 fee. Either choice will satisfy the homebuyer education requirement for incentives and mortgage loans. Read about both below.

• ONLINE  WORKSHOP

• eHOME America PROVIDES A Self-paced HUD-APPROVED WORKSHOP online for $99. YOU CAN START THIS CLASS TODAY by visiting  at www.ehomeamerica.org/go-northwesthrc. (Discounted coupon Code available through our preferred professional partners.) Your counselor will be notified when you complete the course and reach out to schedule your one on one.  If you have questions or you have not heard from a counselor within 2 business days of completing the course, feel free to contact our homeownership counselor at mmcallister@go-northwesthrc.org or call the office 410.947.0084 x 101. “


• NEXT STEPS

After completing your Homebuyer Education workshop on eHome America or Zoom, gather your personal financial documents to provide to your counselor. To ensure that your counselor can complete your one- on-one at the first appointment, we will not schedule you until we receive all of the requested information. Our goal is to schedule your one-on-one appointment within 3-5 days of receiving your financial documents.  However, this is not always possible in months that have high attendance for homebuyer education.  Click here for Document Checklist . Then, complete the following:

  1. Read and sign the attached Program Disclosures here
  2. Securely upload requested financial documents here. or fax to 410.947.0087, or email to enjoy.nature.under.solar.deposit@addtodropbox.com.

One of the items needed is a tri-merged credit report that is no more than 60 days old.  If you are working with a lender, they may be able to provide you with a consumer copy of your report and/or your score disclosure.  We cannot use reports from public sites such as Credit Karma, your bank, or credit card company because they are not tri-merged.  If you do not have a lender’s tri-merged report, Go Northwest can soft pull a tri-merged report for a fee.  Reports cost $25 for an individual and $45 for a joint report. The fee can be paid by clicking Buy Now below. Credit Reports



• PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

We cannot accommodate walk-ins. If you are unable to provide your documents electronically and/or if you prefer an in-person appointment, please call or email the office to request this.  We conduct in-person appointments one day per week;  so, it may take longer to be scheduled. We also reserve the right to reschedule your in-person appointment if you arrive without all of the requested financial documents.
